Your support is critical to the continuation of our work to conserve Brazilian biodiversity. The agro-forestry and alternative income projects developed by IPÊ directly benefit approximately 500 families that reside near natural areas. Moreover, each year we reach more than ten thousand persons with environmental education and other conservation initiatives. IPÊ is responsible for planting more than one million native saplings in the Atlantic Forest and for the conservation of more than fifteen fauna species, the majority of which are threatened by extinction.

Conservation

ARVORAR SOLUÇÕES FLORESTAIS is a subsidiary of the Institute specialized in delivering environmental services. Its mission is to identify solutions for the environmental challenges of today. Its specialized team uses modern techniques for forest restoration.

Socio-environmental gifts and products
IPÊ products are fashionable! This is partly due to volunteer designers and marketers who follow each step of production. Moreover, our products are made by very capable hands and use select materials. Their main distinction, however, is not in their manufacture or design, but in their concept.
Anyone who buys a product with the IPÊ logo also wears a cause. These items depict the fauna and flora of Brazil and thereby inform a wider audience about threatened species. Most importantly, however, our products contribute to the quality of life for low-income families that live near IPÊ conservation projects.
The hands that make the T-shirts, purses, loofahs, sweets and biscuits belong to the women of these families. They enthusiastically participate in training workshops and, whilst learning new skills, are also exposed to the merits of ecosystem conservation through environmental education activities.
By training communities, IPÊ empowers them to better their lives by making quality products that are well-received in the marketplace. These products change both those who produce them and those who purchase them; they promote an understanding of Brazilian biodiversity conservation. The producing communities develop interest and pride in the natural resources of the region in which they are located.
These products are sold in shops in São Paulo City, fairs and other events, and have been ordered by large companies (including Havaianas, Grupo Martins, Tetra Pak) as personalized gifts for their clients.

Motivational activities for staff
Companies can use the infrastructure at IPÊ headquarters for events that sensitize their employees in the environmental context. Our intention is to promote a day of contact with nature, developing activities such as planting trees, seminars and meals. For the employees, it is an opportunity to leave the urban setting to appreciate the beauty of the Atlantic Forest along with co-workers.
These events are possible because the Institute has constructed its own plant nursery and has at its disposal a team of technicians specialized in forestry. The nursery has the capacity to produce seventy thousand saplings per year. Its inauguration was the first event of its type: three-hundred saplings were planted by employees and guests of Timberland, a footwear company of the São Paulo Alpargatas S/A group. Other companies, such as Levi´s, Andrade Gutierrez and Grupo Bimbo, have also participated in these initiatives.
