	Hi. I invite you to meet IPÊ - Institute of Ecological Research. It is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to preserve Brazilian biodiversity. IPÊ's projects are designed to investigate threatened Brazilian species, environmental education, and income-generation through sustainable activities in five regions of Brazil: Anavilhanas (Amazonas); Pontal do Paranapanema and Nazaré Paulista (São Paulo); and Superagüi (Paraná). The Institute was responsible for planting more than 1 million seedlings of native Atlantic Forest trees and for the conservation of about 15 Brazilian species (many of them threatened with extinction). Agroforestry and income-generation projects benefit some 500 families living around protected areas, and reach today approximately 10,000 people through environmental education programs and other conservationist actions.
