In November 2003 IPÊ partnered with Havaianas to produce sandals with designs inspired by the animals with which IPÊ works. These include the red-tailed amazon parrot, manatee and the black-faced lion tamarin. The sandals are being sold in Brazil and abroad.
Profits help to sustain the Institute and help all of IPÊ´s projects. The sandals are also an everyday reminder (to the wearer) of the importance of preserving these endangered species, many of which are little known to Brazilians.
In 2005, IPÊ and Havaianas launched new collections. For adults, sandals with Panthera onca, the jaguar, the Brachyteles arachnoids, the southern muriqui, and the Ara chloroptera, the green-winged macaw, symbols of Brazilian wildlife and nature.
Havaianas-IPÊ Kids collection brings Manatee, Black Faced-Lion Tamarin and the Ocelot. Now, children can participate of this initiative for environment too. After all, it is thinking about their future that nature must be protected.
